Italian "Engineers of the Impossible": DMA and IMA Are Creating the Future of Megayachts

The Italian region of Veneto is becoming the epicenter of a technological revolution in the world of luxury. DMA and IMA have joined forces to realize ambitious mega-projects that push the boundaries of engineering and design.

Technologies on the Brink of Science Fiction At the core is the creation of unique, ultra-strong glass designed for elite shipbuilding. Thanks to the development of innovative industrial furnaces, which have no analogues in the world, engineers have mastered methods of extreme material processing.

Key areas of work include:

  • Large-scale chemical tempering: Ion exchange technology allows for the creation of thin, transparent, yet incredibly strong glass capable of withstanding colossal loads.

  • Complex glass bending (slumping): Unique heating systems make it possible to "mold" complex three-dimensional shapes from glass, such as panoramic domes for megayacht decks.

Freedom for Architects The main mission of this alliance is to free designers from technical constraints. New technologies allow for the use of massive glass surfaces practically without metal posts or mullions. This transforms vessel windows into true works of art, providing an unprecedented level of visibility and aesthetics.

"Our approach is comparable to that of an atelier: every project starts from a clean slate, turning the client's bold ideas into exclusive engineering solutions," the creators note. DMA blurs the lines between engineering art and dreams, proving that the "impossible" is merely a matter of correct engineering calculations. We take on tasks that others refuse.
